The Traveling Mindset
In 1998, I made my way to the Great Wall of China. As you can see, I was happy about this. I'd just finished an eight-month stint at the Shanghai Hilton as the resident lounge singer. (Long story. Please see my autobiographical novel, A Thousand and One Nights.) I was glad I didn't have to sing "Hotel California" anymore. And thrilled to witness new sights.
Something happens when we travel to unfamiliar places. Writer Alain de Botton calls this "the traveling mindset." On March 17 I'll lead a workshop on travel and writing for the Berkshire Festival of Women Writers. Please join me.
On March 11, travel to Stockbridge, MA, where I'll host Arts Night Out at IS183 Art School of the Berkshires. (Bring a friend or date and get crafty.)
March writing exercise: Make a list of places you'd like to travel to (near or far) and why. See where this takes you. (No expense spared. This exercise is for you.) Give yourself 10 minutes and GO. If 10 minutes turns into 20, so be it.
