Post-Election Meditation
I admit, I had planned to send out an entirely different newsletter today. ("I celebrate this historic time. I may have to invest in a pantsuit.") As I try to come to terms with my thoughts, I find there's no better place than my desk, pen in hand.
I encourage you to do the same. Pick up the pen.
November 9th writing exercise: Find your favorite notebook and sink into a comfy chair. Exhale. Then do it again. The preceding months have been fraught. You've likely been bombarded with media and appeals. I invite you to let it all out on the page. Allow yourself to write freely about your thoughts and sensations on this post-election day, knowing there are no "wrong" words. Be messy. Misspell. Be honest. Allow yourself to rant, hope, brainstorm. Keep breathing. Give yourself 10 minutes and GO. If 10 minutes turns into 20, so be it.
