A Winter Visitor
Yesterday, while buffered from the winter storm outside, I watched this beautiful barred owl land just beyond our window and remain past daylight. True, our yard is rife with red squirrels who show up brilliantly against the white backdrop, but I like to think he was paying a visit to me personally. I call him Bard Owl, one who'll grant poetry in the chilly months ahead.
New Year writing exercise: Design a New Year totem for yourself, be it animal, vegetable or mineral. Try sketching your totem (no self-judgment!) and describe it in as much detail as possible. What does this totem symbolize? How is it linked to your intentions for the year ahead? Give yourself 10 minutes and GO. If 10 minutes turns into 20, so be it.
