Treat Yourself


Though I feel compelled to read the news these days--to stay engaged, to try to promote peaceful activism against intolerance--I have to remember that this is also a good time for self-care. For periodic breaks from news sources. For self-inflicted Valentines.

February writing exercise: Devise a delicious (word) treat for yourself. Something edible and perfect. Something that makes you salivate. Describe this delicacy in as much detail as possible, using sensory details (sight, sound, taste, touch, smell). Give yourself 10 minutes and GO. If 10 minutes turns into 20, so be it. 

Then, if possible, EAT this thing!
