Lara Tupper: Swift Ink Stories
Child's Play
As a kid I loved to play with paint, glue, scissors, words. I circled random phrases in children's books before I even knew how to read, sensing the mystery and power of letters. I still love words; I'm still enamored with the possibilities they contain.
This month, I invite to you Child's Play, a workshop I'll teach on March 11 for the Berkshire Festival of Women Writers. We'll get messy with words and reminisce about childhood details. No experience necessary. And no self-judgment allowed.
Here's a preview:
March writing exercise: Describe a treasured childhood creation-- something you made and loved. (A painted rock, a macrame keychain, macaroni art, a sidewalk chalk drawing.) Describe this work of art in as much detail as possible. How old were you? Where were you when you made it? What became of this masterpiece? Give yourself 10 minutes and GO. If 10 minutes turns into 20, so be it.
Post your words on my Swift Ink Stories page for fellow writers to enjoy, if you like.…
