On Dragons
Greetings from Aral the Quiet, Hoarder of Yogurt and Empty Tea Cups. As per the prompt above, this is my dragon name. (This meme is courtesy of a social media site I spend too much time scrolling through.)
I've been drawn to images of dragons since childhood because I believe they are benevolent creatures. They get a bad rap sometimes. They're portrayed as scary or aloof, too fond of fire, awkward with their fangs. But to me they represent our wild, flying potential for daring. They invite us to embrace our odd, colorful selves, despite any judgment we perceive (or invent) from outside sources.
It's a good time to claim our dragon names, to remember exactly who we are and what we believe in, particularly during this week of decision-making in U.S. polls.
