DO NOTHING
AUGUST WRITING PROMPT: Last night I took some time to do very little. I hid my phone, turned off the music, ignored my stack of books. I tried to sit still. As usual, I resisted this experiment 100 times in the space of five minutes.
There was a so much noise in my head. I wanted to ignore the noise and distract myself with different noise. But, for once, I stayed still and made myself listen.
Then I let myself write it all down. And I felt much quieter.
Some call this meditation. Some call it digital detoxing. Whatever you call it, try to do nothing. For just five minutes. Not because it's "good for you," but because you'll likely hear something you hadn't before.
Then write that something down. Or share it with a trusted someone. Or repeat it out loud to yourself.
