Monhegan Island, Maine (above) is one of my favorite places. (I wrote about it here.) It's soothing for me to look at this view during times when I want to scream. (See the daily news.)

JULY WRITING PROMPT: I hereby give you permission to vent. Use whatever words you want. There's no need to appease or censor. Just get it out, no holds barred.

Try to keep writing for at least 10 minutes. If it feels right to share this with a trusted someone, do that. If it feels right to shred your pages and burn them, do that.

Then thank yourself for taking time to be real and honest, for using your voice.

Remember that you can use it whenever you want to.
