With All Good Intentions
If we met at Kripalu, you're familiar with intentions. We teachers often ask guests to set an intention before class begins. It's a way for you to frame the experience as you see fit. And to focus on what your mind/body needs in that moment.
As one year folds into the next, it's human nature to reflect and evaluate. If you're like me, you make a list of "shoulds." I should have finished that manuscript. I should have gone to yoga class more often. In future tense, it looks like this: I really must clean out the closets. I have to sell that screenplay. These are ugly little threats. They seem so...resolute. I prefer intentions. I want a kinder, gentler entree into this new year.
I intend to practice the ukulele. I intend to be a more adventurous cook.
And if not? I give myself permission to eat scrambled eggs for dinner again.
The same goes for you. No matter how your intentions evolve, know that I'll never give you grief about them.
