Seize the Day. Or Cone.
My friend texted me this sad photo from work. She'd treated herself to a vanilla/pineapple cone. Then--meetings. She found this puddle when she returned.
"There's a lesson in this!" I replied.
"But what is it?" she wrote.
I thought, Eat the ice cream first. Or, Forget the meetings. Or, Be the ice cream eater IN the meetings. Easier said than done.
Now I know the lesson is for me. My friend followed her urge and grasped a summer treat on the last day of August. I want to follow those urges too. I want to grab the things that make me feel buoyant, childlike and worry about potential spillage later.
September writing prompt
What will be your summer treat today? What can you do to feel lighter? More like a kid? Write for five minutes or so without worrying about spelling or clarity. Just get it down. Then share it with someone near (or far) or read it out loud to yourself.
