A few nights ago (dark November, Berkshire County), I left my sweet couch, started up my Subaru and went to “town” to see a musical review with a friend. It was well worth it. Great song choices, intimate theater. So much passion in the room. I remembered: I love musicals.
I was an only child. I stayed in my room to memorize A Chorus Line, Godspell, Little Shop of Horrors, Grease, Pippin, Jesus Christ Superstar, etc. As an adult, some of my highest highs have been in Broadway theaters. If you know, you know.
And if you don’t know, you’re probably a critic, like my husband.
My mother once asked him, “What is it you don’t you like exactly? About musicals?”
He thought about it.
“The songs.”
